Liquidity Pools
Liquidity pools are the foundation of WicSwap's decentralized exchange. By providing liquidity, you earn trading fees and become eligible for additional WICS token rewards through our farming programs.
What are Liquidity Pools?
Liquidity pools are smart contracts that hold reserves of two tokens and facilitate trading between them. When you provide liquidity, you deposit both tokens in equal value and receive LP (Liquidity Provider) tokens representing your share of the pool.
How It Works
- Deposit Tokens: Add equal values of two tokens to a pool
- Receive LP Tokens: Get LP tokens representing your pool share
- Earn Fees: Collect 0.17% of all trading fees proportionally
- Farm Rewards: Stake LP tokens to earn additional WICS rewards
Benefits of Providing Liquidity
Trading Fee Rewards
- Earn 0.17% of all trading fees from your pool
- Fees are automatically reinvested into your pool position
- Higher trading volume = higher returns
WICS Token Rewards
- Stake LP tokens in farms to earn WICS tokens
- APR varies based on pool allocation and TVL
- Compound rewards by claiming and re-staking
Platform Ownership
- LP providers become stakeholders in WicSwap
- Voting rights through WICS token ownership
- Shape the future of the protocol
Popular Liquidity Pools
Pool | APR* | TVL | Volume (24h) | Risk Level |
---|---|---|---|---|
WICS/WIC | 45.2% | $2.1M | $180K | Low |
USDT/USDC | 8.7% | $5.8M | $420K | Very Low |
WIC/ETH | 28.3% | $3.2M | $220K | Medium |
WICS/USDT | 52.1% | $1.8M | $95K | Medium |
WIC/BTC | 31.7% | $2.7M | $160K | Medium |
*APR includes trading fees + farming rewards
How to Add Liquidity
Step 1: Choose a Pool
- Visit the Liquidity section on WicSwap
- Browse available pools or search for specific pairs
- Consider factors like APR, TVL, and your risk tolerance
Step 2: Prepare Your Tokens
You need equal dollar values of both tokens:
Example: $1000 WICS + $1000 WIC = $2000 total liquidity
If you only have one token:
- Swap 50% to the other token first
- Or use the "Add Liquidity" auto-swap feature
Step 3: Add Liquidity
- Select Token Pair: Choose the two tokens for your pool
- Enter Amount: Input amount for one token (the other auto-calculates)
- Review Details:
- Pool share percentage
- LP tokens to receive
- Price impact (should be minimal)
- Approve Tokens: Approve contract to spend your tokens
- Confirm Transaction: Execute the liquidity addition
Step 4: Receive LP Tokens
After confirmation, you'll receive LP tokens representing your pool share. These tokens can be:
- Held to earn trading fees passively
- Staked in farms to earn WICS rewards
- Traded or transferred (though not recommended)
Understanding Impermanent Loss
Impermanent Loss occurs when the price ratio of your pooled tokens changes compared to when you deposited them.
Example Scenario
Initial: 1 ETH ($2000) + 2000 USDT = $4000
Later: 1 ETH ($3000) + price divergence
Result: Your LP value may be less than holding tokens separately
Minimizing Impermanent Loss
- Choose Stable Pairs: USDT/USDC has minimal impermanent loss
- Correlated Assets: Pairs that move together (WIC/ETH)
- High Fee Earnings: Trading fees can offset impermanent loss
- WICS Rewards: Farming rewards often compensate for IL
Impermanent Loss Calculator
Use our built-in calculator to estimate potential impermanent loss based on price changes:
- 5% price divergence: ~0.06% loss
- 25% price divergence: ~1.6% loss
- 50% price divergence: ~5.7% loss
- 100% price divergence: ~20% loss
Managing Your Liquidity
Monitoring Performance
Track your liquidity performance through:
- Portfolio Dashboard: View all your LP positions
- Pool Analytics: Trading volume and fee earnings
- APR Tracking: Real-time returns including rewards
- IL Monitoring: Current impermanent loss status
Removing Liquidity
When you want to exit a position:
- Go to Liquidity Section: Find your active positions
- Select Pool: Choose the pool to exit
- Choose Amount: Partial or full withdrawal
- Confirm Removal: Burn LP tokens to receive underlying assets
- Claim Rewards: Don't forget to claim any pending WICS rewards
